MADHU BINDAVAH

EVERYTHING IS PERFECT AND NECESSARY

Faithful theistic vision of the environment.

By Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj

Polestar-Time-Lapse

Everything may not be perfect, but if it is done in Krishna consciousness, then its reaction gives some perfect result. That is the main thing we are to understand. Everywhere some disturbance is possible, but when we will get the final result of things, that will come to us in a perfect form. In this material world, what is imperfect? We are thinking about this, and actually, nothing is imperfect. Everything is perfect because the ruler of this environment is Krishna Himself. What is good for us and what is bad for us—He knows everything, and the samsara-chakra, the wheel of the universe, moves very perfectly. You see thousands of stars in the sky, and they do not hit one another although they all move on in their own way.

Every year we see in the almanac that certain things are forecasted, “This time is bad, that time is bad, and that time is bad.” But actually nothing is bad. Why? Because its ruler is Krishna Himself. When the mahapralaya or a khanda pralaya come [total or partial destruction of the universe occurs], some things will be destroyed, but that also is by the will of Lord Krishna, and when you are all devotees of Lord Krishna, then I think that anything that happens in your life was necessary and will also give some good result. Even when a devotee abuses themself, we can see some substantial good result from it. For example, Krishnadas Kaviraj Goswami said,

jagai madhai haite muni se papistha
purisera kita haite muni se laghistha
(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrta: Adi-lila, 5.205)

[“I am more sinful than Jagai and Madhai and lower than a worm in stool.”]

His feelings about himself are so bad, but side by side when he remembers Nityananda Prabhu’s mercy, he thinks things are so clean and clear for us.

emana nirghrna more keba krpa kare
eka nityananda vinu jagat bhitare
uttama, adhama, kichhu na kare vichara
ye age padaye, tare karaye nistara
(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrta: Adi-lila, 5.208–9)

[“Who in this world but Nityananda would bestow mercy upon a person so abominable as me? He does not consider who is fit and who is unfit; He delivers whoever falls before Him.”]

Nityananda Prabhu gives very clean and clear hope for spiritual life to anyone who takes shelter of Him. Kaviraj Goswami says this clearly: “I took shelter of Nityananda Prabhu’s lotus feet, and Nityananda Prabhu gave me Vrndavan, Rupa, Sanatan, Madan Mohan, Gopinath, Govinda, and so on. I have got Rupa and Raghunath—everything.” Then, anything that comes in our life was necessary, is necessary, and will be necessary. This is the fact. We must be completely surrendered to our Lord. That is our duty.

sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja
(Srimad Bhagavad-gita: 18.66)

[“Abandon all duties and surrender exclusively to Me.”]

Krishna says this, and it is very good, but some suspiciousness also came to me about it, and I was surprised to hear what He says next.

aham tvam sarva-papebhyo moksayisyami ma suchah
(Srimad Bhagavad-gita: 18.66)

[“I will liberate you from all sin. Do not despair.”]

What am I doing? I am always engaged in sinful activities (papa), and by papa is meant aparadha [offences] and so many other obstacles. But Krishna says, “I shall save you from all of this.” So, Krishna is saying you will be saved from everything. This is a miracle. We know that papa plays within us on a very low level, and the main obstacle is when that papa becomes aparadha, but Krishna says,

aham tvam sarva-papebhyo moksayisyami

“I will give you relief from this, and you will get clean position.” This is the hope given by Krishna. Before this, He gave more good hope also,

api chet suduracharo bhajate mam ananya-bhak
(Srimad Bhagavad-gita: 9.30)

[“If even a very sinful person serves Me exclusively with devotion, they should be regarded as saintly.”]

This is the most simple and sweet gift; it is nectar served on a golden plate.

The connection that we have received from our Srila Guru Maharaj and Srila Saraswati Thakur is so sweet and so auspicious. Srila Guru Maharaj liked not only fully bloomed flowers but a group of flowers like us, some half-bloomed, some fully bloomed, some only budding. In this way, Srila Guru Maharaj collected us as an offering to Lord Krishna through his Guru Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur.
